A Touch of Sun

A Touch of Sun 9 x 12TOil on linen panel
This is a plein air painting done in two sessions, same time of day a couple of days apart. There is a small damn on this pond and river, fish are swimming and can be seen clearly in the clear wateo enjoy in the filtered sunlight with a mellow breeze every  now and then.

Little Green Apples

Another all palette knife piece, so much fun, this took a bit longer than the pine tree but I think it was worth the effort, I am enjoying the change of pace from the brush.

Shoreline Sentry

Shoreline Sentry  5 x 7 oil on canvas panel
I have been having fun changing it up a bit. This is all done with a palette knife. A thinned out layout of color is put down with a size 6 brush, fairly large for a small canvas, no detail and leaves only a wash of color in the main areas. Then I use a palette knife to build the painting. The knife keeps the paint colors cleaner than when I use a brush which can have a tendency to mix the colors as they meet and layer.
