Little Green Apples

Little Green Apples 5 x 7 oil on canvas panel
Another all palette knife piece, so much fun, this took a bit longer than the pine tree but I think it was worth the effort, I am enjoying the change of pace from the brush.

Shoreline Sentry

Shoreline Sentry  5 x 7 oil on canvas panel
I have been having fun changing it up a bit. This is all done with a palette knife. A thinned out layout of color is put down with a size 6 brush, fairly large for a small canvas, no detail and leaves only a wash of color in the main areas. Then I use a palette knife to build the painting. The knife keeps the paint colors cleaner than when I use a brush which can have a tendency to mix the colors as they meet and layer.

Rolled Gold

Rolled Gold oil on canvas 9 x 12
All my years of living in farm country has left me with a love of fields in all seasons of the year. This field is not far from our home and fairly glowed in the sunlight. This straw will be used for bedding for animals as well as many other uses and not only on the farm.

Early Spring

Early Spring 6 x 8 oil on panel
After a long winter of snow, grey and cold these Spring colors are more than welcome and just couldn't help painting these happy colors.  For a little spark I added magenta,.....look for the touches of it especially toward the right.

Pine Tree.....Mini

Pine Tree.....Mini  2.5 x 3.5 pastel
Yes, it really is that small. Very fun to do, can be matted in a wide mat or sealed in a crystal clear bag and displayed on a small easel. Great gifts or if you only have a small space work great on a shelf.
If you want more information on supplies etc. you can check out . Needless to say I had  more trouble taking the photo than I did doing the painting. For more information on these small pastels, go to Karen Margulis blog and U-tube video. Thanks for all the info Karen

Sunnys in the Garden

Sunnys in the Garden   Oil on canvas   12X12
A few gloomy days and winter on the horizon, just had to get in a bright cheerful painting. I used some new brushes on this, different feel while painting. They are made by Rosemary's Brushes and are called Ivory Flats, very interesting and will use them many more times. I am used to Bristle brushes and this was fun to feel the difference in paint application.
No changes , no growth so am constantly trying new items I suggest you challenge yourself and your painting in some way each time you pick up a brush or pastel.
